Camp writing

Today I am going to be writing a story about my trip at Kawau Island. I Hope you enjoy.

!!Guess!! What!! On Tuesday the 15th of November the year 6s at Pt England went to“Camp Bentzon on” Kawau Island.

When we arrived at Kawau Island the first thing we did was unpack all our suit cases and big bags out of the ferry. On the first day we went for a long Hike up Killer Hill. Its called Killer Hill because a girl slipped and bumped into a teacher called Mr Jacobsen and Mr Jacobsen bumped into another teacher called Mr Barks. After a while I asked my teacher Mr Somerville a question and the question was “Where are we going”? and my teacher said “To the other side of Camp Bentzon”

After the hike my legs were screaming out and and I was sweating heaps.After the hike, we arrived at the beach and when we arrived we ate lunch and then went to go skim some rocks. A half an hour later we hiked back to Camp Bentzon. On the next day of camp we woke up at 6:30am and went for a run the run was a bit easy but we were lucky because it was all downhill but then on the other hand it was slippery.When we came back from the run we had breakfast. For breakfast we had hot food and cold food, the food was delicious.

Our first activity of the day was Abseiling. First for Abseiling we had to put our harness on and then next we had to put your helmet on. After we put our harness and helmet on Justus was first to climb up the 8 meter wall. Next was Richard, then me. 😓 Ohhhh gosh I was so scared. My heart was beating as I climbed up and then down the wall. Finally it was all over.

Our next activity was Kayaking. First we had morning tea and for morning tea we had biscuits and fruit. For our biscuits we had all sorts of biscuits for example we had Chocolate, Strawberry and heaps of other flavours.

After that my group went to get changed into our togs then we headed down to the beach. We all grabbed a paddle and a kayak and pushed the kayak into the water. We jumped into the kayak and kayaked to the pontoon the water was rough and the breeze was windy, it was difficult to paddle. As I was kayaking a saw a baby stingray. After we kayaked to to the pontoon we kayaked to stingray bay. While we were at Stingray bay we saw a couple of stingrays.

Next was lunch, for lunch we had Hotdogs and fruit. On my Hotdog I had a sausage,Lettuce,onions and sauce . Lunch was delicious.

After lunch our next activity was Raft Building. We went down to the beach and grabbed four barrels, ropes and sticks . Before we started building we went to go look and what the raft should look like then we ran back to where all our stuff was. The girls built there’s together and the boys built there’s together. As we were building our rafts I looked over at the boys and noticed that the boys were winning. After we finished building the rafts, the boys raft was the one we tested and we were the only group that made it over to the pontoon and back.

We did a few more activities after that and then it was time for dinner for dinner we  had  Spaghetti bolognaise and for dessert we had different flavors of ice cream, jelly, waffa’s and chocolate sauce. Delicious, after dinner we played spotlight.

First we got changed into dark clothes,brush our teeth, got our torches and then meet at the deck. Once we all got back to the deck Mr Jacobsen explained the rules and once he was finished telling the rules he said “I spray and walk away” and that meant we had to go away and hide. Spotlight was fun.

The two best parts of camp was  when we all got to see a pod of Orca’s when we were sailing. And the next best part was eating dinner,lunch,morning tea and breakfast. Because the food was Perfect.

Thanks to all the teachers who took us on camp, and big thanks to Peter and Erin for letting us come to the beautiful Camp Benson.

Olympic athlete Lost

One beautiful morning in Brazil the olympic athletes were training. One of the athletes said that he was going for a break. Instead of going for a break he snuck off and went Pokemon hunting. he went and while he was as he was pokemon hunting  he kept looking on his phone and he didn't realize where he was going. He suddenly realised he was  lost.

The other athletes were starting to get worried so they went searching for the missing athlete. While they were looking him they heard a strange sound. So they listened to where the voice was coming from and followed it.

Once they finally got to where the sound was they saw who was making this strange noise, And the person making the noise was the missing athlete.

The other athletes were so happy  that they found him. So they took  him back to practice and they started practicing. Everybody was glad that he was back.

Making Conections

One sunny morning my dad and I went fishing. When we got on the boat, we started getting the bait ready. While my dad was getting the bait ready I really felt like spewing up not because how it looked but the smell. We went fishing off the Orakei Wharf.

After a few minutes the bait was  ready, we hooked the bait to the hook on the rod and chucked the hook in the water, waiting patiently for a bite. While we were waiting we forgot to put our life jackets on so we ran down to the front of the boat and put them on. The reason we went fishing was because it was my uncle’s birthday so we wanted to get some fish for a special present.

As we were waiting we heard a loud THUMP! on the boat. We ran to the front of the boat to see what the big thump was. We looked all around in the water and saw a big shadow it was some big fish. Suddenly the big fish came out from under the boat and the fish was a whale.

As I was looking at the fish it looked like it needed help so I said to my dad “Dad the whale looks like the fish needs help” and then he said back to me “OK ask her what she needs help with” so I asked the whale what was wrong then she looked like she lost her son or her daughter.

So went to the steering wheel and my dad was driving the boat “We will be back with your daughter or son” I said to the whale”. As we were driving we heard another THUMP!!! So again we were waiting for what comes out and this time it was a whale but a baby one.

We chucked some fish in the dingy so the baby whale could follow us back to where the baby whales mum was. We finally got back to where the mum was. Once we got there the mum straight away swam to the baby and they looked so happy together. I really felt like crying.

When that was all over we went to the rod and and pulled the hook out of the water and on the rod was a fish so we measured it and it was the right size. So we took it to my Uncle's party and ate the yummy fish we caught.

That was really a fun fishing day. So fun that I wanted to do the next day!!!!!!

Olympics

Did you know gymnastics are in the Rio Olympics this year? For 32 years only men were allowed to compete but in 1896 women were allowed to play. There is the Rhythmic and the artistics.

I am writing about a gymnast and her name is Simone Biles.  Simone Biles is 19 years old and she was born in March the 14 1997.

In gymnastics you can compete  in groups up to six people. To win the sport it is the person with the highest points and also if you land in a trick shot then you can also win.

In the men’s gymnastics they don’t use  what women use they use the rings and other things. There are also two different kinds of Gymnastics.

Simone Biles was adopted by her biological grandparents from foster care at age five.When she was six years old her one big dream was to become a professional gymnast. In 2012 she was not allowed to compete in the olympics because she was only 12. And I think you have to be 19 and over.

Simone Biles has her own move, Which is called the double layout half out. For me I think that Simone Biles is a very talented gymnast.

I hope Simone Biles wins. GO FOR GOLD SIMONE BILES!!!!!!

Holidays

Guess what  I did in the holidays!!!

In the holidays my family and I went to Ngatea for my cousin's Birthday. Ngatea is a beautiful place. Once we got there I walked in the door and my eldest cousin was doing all my other cousins makeup.

I didn't want to do my makeup but I did anyway. Then after that my cousin did our hair. For a present my family and I gave my cousin $10 because she was 10. My cousin was so lucky. But it was like the best day.

I wish I was still at my cousins.
