Immersion Assembly

On the first day of school we had an Immersion Assembly.Every team had to show what they are going to study this term, The topic for this term is Move Ya Body which relates to Health and Fitness.Team 1’s video relates to making sure you get some sleep,and stay healthy. Team 2’s video showed some Healthy Habits, In team 3’s video there was a lot of dancing which is related to the topic Move Ya Body,Team 4’s video was about the different exercises that you can do to keep fit and Team 5 did not have a video they did a item on stage, The teachers in team 5 did Tai chi on the stage. I am really looking forward to be learning more about Health and Fitness this term.

In Room 2 Literacy we got to write a letter to a guest in our class, Our guest's name is Mr Van horn. He is new to our school. In the letter we had to write stuff about ourselves. We also got to ask some questions about him, We are quite lucky to be having a guest in our class.

Dear Ms Tapuke

My name is Nyree and I am really excited to be attending at Pt England school this year as
a year 8.This year I have been given the chance to become one of the school house captains
for my home colour Hikianalia (yellow).

I Was born and raised in New Zealand,Both my parents were also born and raised in New
Zealand. I grew up in a family of 7.As I grew older I found out that I had 2 older brothers
than me.I found that it was cool to have 2 older brothers than me.

I really enjoy playing sports my favourite sport to play in Netball. The first year I started
playing netball for a team at Pt England was in year 7.When I was in year 4,5 and 6 my
friends keep telling me to play but I didn't. And then when I finally played they were
excited.

As a student I am really looking forward to learning new things at school,I am also looking
forward to becoming a house captain.I am looking forward to meeting new people. Lets
make 2018 a great year.

Why is regular exercise important

Why do you think regular exercise is important.I will explain how regular exercise can hep you stay Healthy,Fit and Strong.

Firstly, you could stay Healthy by exercising everyday. You could also stay Healthy by eating Healthy foods & drinks like: fruit drinks,Water,fruit and other Healthy food.

Secondly,You could stay fit by doing regular exercisers everyday like: Running,Going for walks playing a sport and other regular exercisers.

Lastly,Staying strong is basically doing all those things that I explained which was: Doing regular exercisers and eating Healthy foods.

In the end I think that regular exercise is important because of the things that it could do for you like keep your body Strong,Fit and Healthy.

Immersion Assembly

Today was the first day of Term 4, Monday the 16th of October.And when had an Immersion Assembly. Our Immersion Assembly was all about Musical Madness. To start our Assembly of we had Mr burt,Mr Wiseman,Mr J, Mr Wiseman and Mrs Nua sing a song for us called “Musical Madness Saves The Day” Then after that it was Team 1 time to shine,

For their item they were playing cards, and as they were playing cards they were listening to music and whatever music they listened to their emotions started to change. For Example: If there was a Happy song playing there emotion would be Happy.

Next was Team 2. First Miss Gaston was playing the Ukelele and singing "The lion sleeps Tonight" and then the rest of the teachers came up on the stage and started using there instruments. So they were basically using different kind of instruments to create one whole song

Next Team 3 shared there movie with us. There movie was about lip syncing to all kinds of different songs.The teachers that were Lip syncing was, Mr Moran,Miss Davis,Miss King and Miss Edie

After that was Team 4.The name of Team 4 item was Make Car rides more fun. And in there movie they had all of the teachers taking turns in a car and singing to the songs that were playing in the car.

And last but no least was the amazing Team 5. Now for Team 5 item all the teachers in team 5 got together and was watching a movie. And as they were watching the movie different kinds of songs were playing. So they were trying to figure out what was going on in the movie with just the sound

How Does MMP Work

What does MMP stand for? MMP stands for Mixed Member Proportional.

In the MMP system you have 2 votes, the first vote is for the party that you prefer, this is the vote that largely decides the total number of seats each party will have of the 120 seats in parliament.The second vote is to choose a person to represent your local electric in parliament under MMP NZ is divided into 70 electrics.Who ever gets the most votes will become your local MP.

To get any seats in parliament a party must reach at least 5% or more of the the party vote or with an electric seat.If 30% of us vote for Labour then it will fill 40% of the all the seats in parliament,If 10% of us vote for National the it will fill up 10% of the seats.

Catching Flounder

This Morning Pt England School went to the Beach to watch some of our students and teachers catch some Flounder.First we lined up out on the hard courts to listen to the instructions that Mr Burt was giving us. When he was finished giving out instructions, Year 1 went out to the crossing and they were of to the beach. Then it was Year 2,Year 3 and so on. When we got to the beach we sang a waiata and then we said a karakia. After that we were on our way back to school.We are only catching baby Flounder and we are putting them in our tank, and when they are bigger we are going to give them back to the ocean.The other school caught 4 Flounder. And we were trying our best to beat them and we did. YAYYYY!!!!

Film Festival Secrets

In the past few weeks room 4 and our teacher Mrs Judd, have been very busy working on our film festival movie. Mrs Judd and room 4 came up with the idea of doing a blindfolded eating test.

Mrs Judd pulled 3 people at a time out of class and into the tusitala to test the food blindfolded.When I finally got called to go to the tusitala, I had butterflies in my stomach because I was scared of what Mrs Judd was going to give us.

There was one thing that we had to taste and we had to pass it down the table and when it got to me, It felt really squishy and gross and if you are dying to know what it is then you can watch our film festival movie.

The nicest thing that we tasted would of had to be the Jelly because it tasted like L&P and it was super nice.The food that we tasted was:
Date,Jelly,Mango Chilli slices and a Mystery Food.

Yesterday Morning team 5 had been given the chance to go to the 2017 Polyfest. While we were there we got to walk around and look and all the different stores and activities and we also got to see some performances.

My first highlight of that day was going to get the flava tattoo. I got my flava tattoo on my right arm.When the tattoo was done we got to go in to a little van that had a video game called street fighter. I was about to play but I did not want to.

My second highlight of the day was playing jenga. We had to try and get as high as we could. We were so close to betting the other school but it all fell down.

After we had lunch we got some little ASB bags. Inside the bags were, Glasses,Sunscreen,Fan,Pamflet and a Hacky sack

The Most favourite part of the day was spending it with all my friends and my teachers.

This years polyfest was fun. I can not wait until we go next year.

Camp writing

Today I am going to be writing a story about my trip at Kawau Island. I Hope you enjoy.

!!Guess!! What!! On Tuesday the 15th of November the year 6s at Pt England went to“Camp Bentzon on” Kawau Island.

When we arrived at Kawau Island the first thing we did was unpack all our suit cases and big bags out of the ferry. On the first day we went for a long Hike up Killer Hill. Its called Killer Hill because a girl slipped and bumped into a teacher called Mr Jacobsen and Mr Jacobsen bumped into another teacher called Mr Barks. After a while I asked my teacher Mr Somerville a question and the question was “Where are we going”? and my teacher said “To the other side of Camp Bentzon”

After the hike my legs were screaming out and and I was sweating heaps.After the hike, we arrived at the beach and when we arrived we ate lunch and then went to go skim some rocks. A half an hour later we hiked back to Camp Bentzon. On the next day of camp we woke up at 6:30am and went for a run the run was a bit easy but we were lucky because it was all downhill but then on the other hand it was slippery.When we came back from the run we had breakfast. For breakfast we had hot food and cold food, the food was delicious.

Our first activity of the day was Abseiling. First for Abseiling we had to put our harness on and then next we had to put your helmet on. After we put our harness and helmet on Justus was first to climb up the 8 meter wall. Next was Richard, then me. 😓 Ohhhh gosh I was so scared. My heart was beating as I climbed up and then down the wall. Finally it was all over.

Our next activity was Kayaking. First we had morning tea and for morning tea we had biscuits and fruit. For our biscuits we had all sorts of biscuits for example we had Chocolate, Strawberry and heaps of other flavours.

After that my group went to get changed into our togs then we headed down to the beach. We all grabbed a paddle and a kayak and pushed the kayak into the water. We jumped into the kayak and kayaked to the pontoon the water was rough and the breeze was windy, it was difficult to paddle. As I was kayaking a saw a baby stingray. After we kayaked to to the pontoon we kayaked to stingray bay. While we were at Stingray bay we saw a couple of stingrays.

Next was lunch, for lunch we had Hotdogs and fruit. On my Hotdog I had a sausage,Lettuce,onions and sauce . Lunch was delicious.

After lunch our next activity was Raft Building. We went down to the beach and grabbed four barrels, ropes and sticks . Before we started building we went to go look and what the raft should look like then we ran back to where all our stuff was. The girls built there’s together and the boys built there’s together. As we were building our rafts I looked over at the boys and noticed that the boys were winning. After we finished building the rafts, the boys raft was the one we tested and we were the only group that made it over to the pontoon and back.

We did a few more activities after that and then it was time for dinner for dinner we  had  Spaghetti bolognaise and for dessert we had different flavors of ice cream, jelly, waffa’s and chocolate sauce. Delicious, after dinner we played spotlight.

First we got changed into dark clothes,brush our teeth, got our torches and then meet at the deck. Once we all got back to the deck Mr Jacobsen explained the rules and once he was finished telling the rules he said “I spray and walk away” and that meant we had to go away and hide. Spotlight was fun.

The two best parts of camp was  when we all got to see a pod of Orca’s when we were sailing. And the next best part was eating dinner,lunch,morning tea and breakfast. Because the food was Perfect.

Thanks to all the teachers who took us on camp, and big thanks to Peter and Erin for letting us come to the beautiful Camp Benson.

                                       BEST CAMP EVER

narative writing

One sunny morning my dad and I went fishing. When we got on the boat, we started getting the bait ready. While my dad was getting the bait ready I really felt like spewing up not because how it looked but the smell. We went fishing off the Orakei Wharf.

After a few minutes the bait was  ready, we hooked the bait to the hook on the rod and chucked the hook in the water, waiting patiently for a bite. While we were waiting we forgot to put our life jackets on so we ran down to the front of the boat and put them on. The reason we went fishing was because it was my uncle’s birthday so we wanted to get some fish for a special present.

As we were waiting we heard a loud THUMP! on the boat. We ran to the front of the boat to see what the big thump was. We looked all around in the water and saw a big shadow it was some big fish. Suddenly the big fish came out from under the boat and the fish was a whale.

As I was looking at the fish it looked like it needed help so I said to my dad “Dad the whale looks like the fish needs help” and then he said back to me “OK ask her what she needs help with” so I asked the whale what was wrong then she looked like she lost her son or her daughter.

So went to the steering wheel and my dad was driving the boat “We will be back with your daughter or son” I said to the whale”. As we were driving we heard another THUMP!!! So again we were waiting for what comes out and this time it was a whale but a baby one.

We chucked some fish in the dingy so the baby whale could follow us back to where the baby whales mum was. We finally got back to where the mum was. Once we got there the mum straight away swam to the baby and they looked so happy together. I really felt like crying.

When that was all over we went to the rod and and pulled the hook out of the water and on the rod was a fish so we measured it and it was the right size. So we took it to my Uncle's party and ate the yummy fish we caught.

That was really a fun fishing day. So fun that I wanted to do the next day!!!!!!

Holidays

Guess what  I did in the holidays!!!

In the holidays my family and I went to Ngatea for my cousin's Birthday. Ngatea is a beautiful place. Once we got there I walked in the door and my eldest cousin was doing all my other cousins makeup.

I didn't want to do my makeup but I did anyway. Then after that my cousin did our hair. For a present my family and I gave my cousin $10 because she was 10. My cousin was so lucky. But it was like the best day.

I wish I was still at my cousins.

Phillip asked, "Mum, are we going to the movies today", It was the holidays after all. "First you need to tidy your room and help put the dishes away and the we can go", replied Mum. Phillip worked like crazy getting his room clean and helped mum with the dishes, "This is going to be the best day" exclaimed Phillip he was bursting with excitement.
